Skeletal remains were recovered during a re-combing operation at the Sigachi Industries in Pashamylaram, where an explosion left 37 dead and over 30 injured. The remains were sent to a forensic laboratory for further analysis. Meanwhile, the State government-appointed expert committee is scheduled to make their first visit to the site on Thursday (July 3, 2025).
Sangareddy superintendent of police, Paritosh Pankaj, said that 95% of DNA sample collection has been completed to ascertain identity of unidentified bodies, and the remaining samples will be collected by the end of the day. As of Wednesday (June 2, 2025), identity of five bodies was found using DNA samples and handed over to the families for final rites.
“The expert committee will inspect the site on Thursday, along with teams from other departments. With regards to the police investigation, since this is a highly technical case, we are awaiting lab reports and findings from these teams to proceed with our probe,” he said.
A senior official from the Patancheru Government Hospital confirmed that the death toll stands at 37 as of Thursday morning. Sigachi Industries is engaged in manufacture of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) powder, which acts as a binder, disintegrant, filler, and lubricant in pharmaceutical production.
