Baroda wicket-keeper Amit Passi had a day to remember on his Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy initiation as he equalled the world record for the highest score on T20 debut during the last SMAT 2025-26 league stage match on Monday.
Replacing India wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma, who has flown for national duties against South Africa, the 26-year-old Passi opened the batting and produced a swashbuckling innings against Services. The right-hander stormed past his half-century in 24 balls and amped up the gears with a streak of boundaries.

Batting on 98, Passi recorded his century in 44 balls with his ninth six of the innings, becoming only the third Indian man to score a T20 hundred on debut. Passi eventually finished on 114, the joint-highest score by a T20 debutant, with smashing 10 fours and nine sixes during his 55-ball stay.
Courtesy of Passi’s rampaging ton, Baroda finished with 220 for five on board in 20 overs.
Placed in a stiff Elite Group C, Baroda are out of contention of making the Super League stage even if they win the contest against Services by a resounding marging. The winners of the Punjab-Gujarat and Bengal-Haryana contests are guaranteed to qualify from the group.
