A social and educational survey will be conducted in Karnataka’s Mandya district from September 22 to October 7 by the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar, addressing a meeting with officials at his office on Thursday, said that proper training must be provided to enumerators as the survey will be conducted digitally.

In the first phase, five individuals from the district will be trained at the State-level. These trained personnel will then impart training to around 80 master trainers within the district.

“Mandya has 5.3 lakh households with a total population of 18 lakh. Each enumerator will be assigned 140 to 150 households, requiring about 3,800 enumerators in total. Tahsildars and Block Education Officers have been instructed to prepare the list of enumerators at the taluk level,” Mr. Kumar said.

The Deputy Commissioner said that all doubts should be clarified during master trainers’ sessions and emphasised that enumerators must collect accurate information while visiting households.

“The survey will help us understand the social and educational conditions of the people, and will aid in formulating schemes in the future. I appeal to the public to cooperate with the district administration by providing accurate information,” Mr. Kumar added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivanandamurthy highlighted the need to identify and include households without electricity connections in the survey. He urged tahsildars, urban local bodies, and Panchayat Development Officers to take special care in this regard.

Backward Classes Welfare Department Deputy Director Manjula, Department of School Education Deputy Director Lokesh, and Department of Information and Public Relations Assistant Director Nirmala were present.
