Minister for Social Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar on Monday expressed anger over the alleged poor quality of food being served to the students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential School/Junior College for girls at Chintakunta in Kothapally mandal near Karimnagar.

The Minister made a surprise visit to the residential school around noon on Monday and had lunch with the students. He interacted with the students and received feedback from them.

When students complained of poor quality of rice of coarse variety being served to them during the noon meal, the Minister turned his ire at the staff concerned for failing to provide fine rice to the students.

The Minister spoke with the District Supply Officer (DSO) over phone and issued directions to immediately replace the coarse rice with the fine rice.

Expressing his ire over officials’ ‘apathy’ towards the students of the State-run school, the Minister issued instructions to the higher authorities to take appropriate action against the errant officials and ensure quality food to the students.

He further directed the officials to improve hygiene conditions at the kitchen, install an additional RO water plant at the mess, provide new steel utensils and construct a compound wall around the residential school building.
