On September 3, according to reports from MHNSports, the ‘Wind Song’ singer revealed that she has parted ways with her husband after being married for the past 25 years. An official statement released by her management agency confirmed the news. The split reportedly happened 2 years ago; however, it was only recently revealed to the public.The statement, as published by the portal reads, “Based on plenty of discussion and mutual respect, Sohyang and the other party agreed to go their separate ways and root for one another. The divorce was not the fault of either party, but instead based on mutual agreement”.They also added that they’ll be providing the singer all the support that she needs asked for the public's consideration in the matter. Not only that, the statement also reads that people should not spread misinformation and rumours of any kind online.

Singer opens up about how Rumi from ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ gave her strength

In an interview with EDaily, the singer delved into how she came to decide to make her divorce public after 2 years. She revealed that one of the main reasons behind her decision came after watching the hit animated film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’. She revealed that, “One day, I saw the scene where Rumi, the main character of K-pop Demon Hunters, courageously reveals her hidden identity. I was so moved. At the same time, I felt ashamed of myself for continuing to hide the fact that I was divorced. At that moment, I made a promise to myself that if the opportunity arose, I would no longer hide it. I would tell the truth. I wanted to be brave like Rumi”.Shyang had earlier even released a cover of the film’s hit song ‘Golden’, which has managed to garner more than 2 million views online.
