Passengers travelling on the Solapur-Hassan Express will soon have an additional boarding and alighting point, with Indian Railways introducing an experimental halt at Channarayapatna station from May 31.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Solapur Division of Central Railway said the stoppage for Train Nos. 11311/11312 Solapur-Hassan-Solapur Express has been provided on an experimental basis and would continue until further orders.
According to the revised schedule, Train No. 11311 Solapur-Hassan Express will arrive at Channarayapatna at 9.29 a.m. and depart at 9.30 a.m. Similarly, Train No. 11312 Hassan-Solapur Express will arrive at the station at 4.49 p.m. and leave at 4.50 p.m.
The railway officials said the new halt is expected to benefit passengers from Channarayapatna and neighbouring areas by improving access to important destinations on the Solapur-Hassan route. The move, they said, is aimed at addressing passengers’ demand and strengthening regional rail connectivity.
The Solapur Division has advised passengers to take note of the revised schedule and make use of the additional facility. Apart from the introduction of the halt at Channarayapatna, there will be no change in the timings or stoppages of the train at other stations.
