A month after being arrested for the alleged murder of her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, Sonam Raghuvanshi remains lodged in Shillong jail. According to officials, she has not received any family visitors so far and appears to be showing no remorse for her actions.

Where Is Sonam Raghuvanshi Lodged?

Sonam, who has been adapting to the environment of the Shillong jail, has grown comfortable with other female prisoners. Reports indicate that she adheres to a daily routine, waking up at a fixed time each morning and following the jail manual. She avoids discussing her crime or personal life with either fellow prisoners or jail staff. She resides with two other female undertrial prisoners near the jail warden’s office.

How Sonam Spends Her Time in Jail

Currently, Sonam has not been assigned any special tasks in the jail, but she is expected to soon learn sewing and other skill development activities. She also has access to television. It has been reported that despite being allowed to contact her family according to jail rules, her family has not reached out to her.

Sonam Under CCTV Watch

There are 20 women prisoners in Shillong jail, with Sonam being the second inmate facing murder charges. The jail administration monitors her activities through CCTV cameras and has attempted to gather information about the murder of her husband. However, sources indicate that she remains silent on the matter.

How Sonam Was Caught

Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman from Indore, went missing on May 23 while honeymooning in Meghalaya with his wife Sonam. Days later, on June 2, his dismembered body was recovered from a deep gorge in the Sohra region of East Khasi Hills district.

Raja Raghuvanshi had tied the knot with Sonam on May 11. Shortly after, Sonam and Raj Kushwaha were accused of orchestrating his murder by hiring three contract killers-Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi. All five, including Sonam and Kushwaha, are currently in judicial custody.

On the night of June 7, Sonam was arrested from an eatery (dhaba) on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road.

Family Cuts Ties

Sonam’s family has reportedly cut ties with her following the incident. Her brother stated to the media that the family stands with Raja’s family in their quest for justice.
