Panaji: Reports about the assault on the Drishti Marine lifeguard have reached the South Goa collector, who is likely to hear both parties involved on Monday. Although Laxmikant Gaude chose not to press charges against the tourist, sources said Drishti Marine has called for some punitive action against the tourist. The middle-aged man had slapped and thrown Gaude into the water off Betalbatim beach on Thursday after Gaude prevented him from entering the waters.“No FIR has been registered, but Drishti has filed a complaint and has sought action under section 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita,” said an official. Section 126 pertains to the disturbance of public peace. The collector is expected to record statements of Drishti Marine, Gaude, and the tourist, and may issue an order. “Both parties were called to the station a day after the incident and the matter was settled,” said a Colva police officer.
