Seven teams, including Ongole, Darsi, Markapuram, Kanigiri, Armed Reserve (AR), SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) and IT (information Technology) Core teams, have participated in SP Trophy Cricket Tournament organised by Prakasam District Police Department at the District Parade Ground on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar has inaugurated the tournament and watched the cricket matches with interest. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “One should participate in games with sportsmanship spirit. Winning or losing is not important.”

He said, “The sports would increase happiness as well as physical strength. Police officers and personnel who are constantly on duty can get rid of stress through sports. Cricket is not just a sport, it is very helpful in leading the team with inspiring leadership qualities. It helps in developing things like discipline, perseverance and fighting spirit.”

“The police should always be in the forefront of serving the people. At the same time, they should also pay attention to their health. In these matches, the players performed their best, demonstrating team cohesion and sportsmanship,” the SP said, wishing the police personnel the best of luck. He informed that more such programmes will be organised in the future.
