CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Nanded zilla parishad (ZP) has launched a special initiative called Arogya Doot, to promote health awareness, scientific temper, and community participation through school students.Conceptualized by ZP chief executive officer Meghana Kavali, the initiative is being projected as a first-of-its-kind project in Maharashtra. "The Arogya Doot initiative has been designed to ensure that basic health information reaches every household, dispel misconceptions related to health, and encourage the development of a scientific outlook, particularly in rural areas," she said."Awareness at a young age will contribute to the holistic development of the students by nurturing leadership qualities, social responsibility, scientific temper, and community engagement," she said.As part of the first phase of the programme, around 1,000 employees-cum-trainers including medical officers, community health officers, education officials, and teachers, have been trained. These trainers will further mentor selected student Arogya Doots across the district, who will undertake awareness activities in villages."The project is a transformative effort towards building healthier, informed, and empowered villages," said Kardile.
