The Southern Railway has announced festival special trains for passengers travelling during the Onam festive season.
Mangaluru Central-Thiruvananthapuram North One-Way Express Special via Alappuzha (train no. 06010) will leave Mangaluru Central at 19.30 p.m. on September 2 and arrive at Thiruvananthapuram North at 8 a.m. the next day.
A pair of special trains will be operated between Thiruvananthapuram North and Santragachi (Kolkata) during the Dussehra/Deepavali/Chhath festivals. Thiruvananthapuram North-Santragachi Superfast Special (06081) will leave Thiruvananthapuram North at 16.20 p.m. on Fridays (September 5, 12, 19, and 26, and October 3, 10, and 17) and reach Santragachi at 14.15 p.m. on Sundays.
In the return direction, Santragachi-Thiruvananthapuram North Superfast Special (06082) will leave Santragachi at 14.20 p.m. on Mondays (September 8, 15, 22, and 29 and October 6, 13, and 20) and arrive at Thiruvananthapuram North at 9.55 a.m. on Wednesdays.
The Southern Railway has now notified 95 Onam special trains for passengers travelling from the Thiruvananthapuram division with different parts of the country during the Onam festive season.
In addition to the introduction of special trains, 10 trains have been permitted temporary coach augmentation. Thiruvananthapuram Central-MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express (12696), MGR Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast (12695), MGR Chennai-Alappuzha Express ( 22639), Alappuzha- Chennai Express (22640), Karaikal-Ernakulam Junction Express (16187), Ernakulam Junction – Karaikal Express (16188 ) will be augmented temporarily for the convenience of passengers.
