Speeding car kills woman standing by friend’s bike in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A 23-year-old woman was killed on the spot after being hit by a speeding car at Yelahanka Saturday night. Ishani Sarkar from Odisha was standing by the roadside when the incident occurred.Preliminary investigations revealed that Ishani and her friend were returning to the city from Devanahalli via the Kempegowda International Airport expressway when their motorbike ran out of fuel near Yelahanka. While her friend went in search of petrol, Ishani waited by the stranded vehicle on the roadside.According to police, the car driver failed to notice her. "She died instantly. Her friend is not in a position to give a statement now, but we will record his version once he recovers from the shock," an investigating officer said. Yelahanka police are collecting more details about the victim and the car driver.
