Speeding car mows down two college students in Azamgarh

VARANASI: Two college girls died when a speeding car hit their bicycles on the Azamgarh-Varanasi road near Nandi Bhauji village under Gambhirpur police jurisdiction in Azamgarh district on Monday morning.

The driver of the car was arrested.After taking stock of the incident site, Azamgarh’s ASP (City) Madhuvan Kumar Singh said that two girls, Aanchal Yadav (21) of Ahil Khaniyara and Anshika Yadav (20) of Kudebhar Khaniyara, were heading to their Shri Mata Prasad Degree College in Maikhargpur on their bicycles around 8:30 am when the car hit the duo near Nandi Bhauji village.Anshika died on the spot while Aanchal succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Their bodies were sent for postmortem examination. The car was seized by police.
