A speeding Thar hit sisters Josef and Isha in Burail, killing Josef and critically injuring Isha. The driver fled and police are searching for him using CCTV footage.

Tragedy struck on Wednesday when a speeding Thar vehicle ran over two sisters in Chandigarh, killing one and leaving the other critically injured.

The two sisters have been identified as Josef and Isha. They were returning from college and waiting for an auto-rickshaw on the roadside, when the speeding black colour Thar hit them. The driver fled from the spot after the accident.

Locals took the two sisters to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Josef, the elder sister, dead. The younger sister, who received serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The family lives in the Burail area of the city.

The police traced the address of the accused driver with the help of the registration number of the car, however, they discovered upon reaching the place that he had vacated the place long ago.

The police are now looking for him with the help of the CCTV footage.
