Tom Holland delves into sobriety

The ‘Spider-Man’ star recently sat down for an interview with Esquire, where he talked about his latest projects, his career, and some of the achievements that he has collected so far. During the interview, the actor shared that he has not had one drop of alcohol for the past three and a half years. The actor shared that, “It feels amazing. A little bit like a brand-new identity, almost”.Holland has always been open about his struggle with alcohol, and has time and time again shared how he would get with a drink in his hand.

In an interview with Men’s Health, the actor shared that, “My problem was that I would have one drink and be fine, and then I would just go too far”. He revealed that a time came for him when he finally realised that it was all getting too much for him. At first, he talked about how his manager told him that he was never going to wake up in the morning, wishing that he’d taken a drink the night before, which put things in perspective for him.

Other than that, Holland also recalled that there was a time when he even asked his own younger brother to leave and drive back home without him, as he wished to stay longer at the party and drink more.

This incident set him straight as “It’s really helpful when the people closest to you start going, ‘Are you sure?’”The actor has since then opened his own non-alcoholic beer company, which has been going ‘really well’ according to the actor. He shared that “I’m really proud of it. Every day we’re making big steps in the right direction, and we’re growing every day—thinking of new ways to innovate and coming up with new ideas for products”. He also added that the public can expect new things from the company this coming winter as he has certain ideas planned out for the final months.
