Bandra's streets transformed into a spooky playground on Halloween night as a guided walk unveiled local legends and folklore. Participants explored haunted nooks and heard tales of restless spirits, from St. Andrew's Church cemetery to Mount Mary Road. The event offered a chilling yet captivating glimpse into the suburb's mysterious side.
On Halloween night, October 31, the usually buzzing streets of Bandra took on an eerie glow as the Spooky Halloween Walk led curious Mumbaikars through the suburb’s lanes. From kids clutching flashlights to elderly explorers and whole families soaking in the supernatural, the walk turned Bandra’s charming by-lanes into a playground of legends and folklore.
The late-night storytelling photowalk began at St. Andrew’s Church, wound its way through Mount Mary Road, Mount Mary Church, and Bandstand, before culminating at the hotel on Bandstand, Land’s End.Curated by guide Shantanu Dey, the moonlit trail unfolded tales of haunted nooks, and restless spirits. “St. Andrew’s Church has the oldest cross in Mumbai and an ancient cemetery,” said Dey. “There are stories about a bride waiting for her dead groom and a lady who lost her baby to the 1896 plague, who vanishes leaving behind a whiff of jasmine.
There are areas around an old church, that have eerie legends of candles that relight themselves.

Participants couldn’t get enough of the spine-tingling experience. “My daughter is a fan of ghost stories, so all four of us came for this Halloween walk in the middle of the night,” said Sheetal Dalve. Aditi, a class 11 student from the suburbs, added, “I came all the way from the central suburbs to attend this Photowalk event and found out about so many ghost stories here.”
From seasoned locals to first-time visitors, everyone was bewitched. Vaishnavi Karelia from Kandivli said, “The haunted hotel story intrigued me, but I loved the Mount Mary tale — eerie yet full of faith and belief.” Mrunal Doiphode, attending the photowalk with her mother-in-law, admitted, “The cemetery completely spooked me out. I’ve lived here for years and never knew Mumbai had such a haunted side.” Even newcomers were left wide-eyed. “I wasn’t expecting Bandra to hold so many spooked-out areas,” said Samir Tarafdar, who has been a Mumbai resident of the last two years.

Amidst haunted areas around cemeteries, whispered folklore, and laughter breaking through the chills, the Spooky Halloween Walk proved that Bandra isn’t just about parties and nightlife — it has a dark, mysterious heartbeat.
