BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday (October 27, 2025) alleged that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was attempting to divert the attention of the people and cover up the failures of the DMK government by assailing the proposed Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
In a statement, Mr. Nagenthran said the Chief Minister had forgotten that in 2017, during the by-election to the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly constituency, the DMK had filed a case demanding a special revision of the electoral roll, alleging the presence of bogus voters.
“Is the Chief Minister unaware that under successive Congress governments, the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll was carried out 10 times? Why is he trying to portray this routine procedure of the Election Commission as something new?” Mr. Nagenthran asked.
“Those who will be involved in this exercise, from the Chief Electoral Officer to District Collectors and Revenue Department officials, are all officials of the Tamil Nadu government,” he claimed. “In that case, is the DMK government casting doubts on the integrity of officials of its own government?” he questioned.
