The State government is directly responsible for the stampede that took place in Bengaluru claiming 11 innocent lives. They cannot escape from this responsibility, BJP MLA Chandrakanthgowda Channappagowda Patil said in Gadag on Thursday.

Everyone knows that the RCB team has a fan base in crores. The State government hastily organized a victory celebration programme with the sole intention of gaining publicity. The State government is responsible for the deaths of 11 innocent people, Mr. Patil, who is a former Minister, said.

“First of all, what was the need to celebrate the victory of a private club? RCB is not Indian national team. Even the BCCI has claimed before courts that it is not the national team. Those players do not play for the country. IPL is only about money. All the players participating in it are auctioned for crores of rupees. What was the urgency to congratulate those who played for personal gain and won?” he said.

“I was watching TV and saw that the RCB players did not seem to be in any pain or shock about this. No player has expressed sorrow or visited the houses of the dead,” he said.

Congress leaders who blamed intelligence failure for the Pahalgam terror attack and the stampede deaths in a cinema in Telangana are not admitting to their failure now. The State government should order an investigation by a sitting judge or hand the case over to the CBI. The RCB should be made to pay relief to the families of the dead. Each family should get at least ₹50 lakh compensation, Mr. Patil said.
