Dumka: In a relief to state health minister Irfan Ansari and his father Furkan Ansari, who was a former MP, a local MP-MLA court here on Thursday acquitted both of them in a decade-long case related to a land dispute. The court of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate-cum-MP-MLA court, Mohan Choudhary, heard the arguments of both prosecution and defence before delivering the judgement in which it cited a lack of evidence against the Ansaris.Overjoyed by the verdict, minister Irfan said, “We always had full faith in the court. I sincerely thank the court for delivering justice.”He further said that even his father was dragged into the case.
“However, truth has finally prevailed today, and the court has acquitted us,” Irfan added. The case dates back to 2015 when one Maqbool Hussain from the Madhupur police station area accused the minister, his father and two other persons, Mustari Khatoon and Sattar Karam, of verbal abuse, physical assault, and other allegations over a dispute. The dispute arose after the minister purchased a house in Madhupur, where the existing tenant, Maqbool Hussain, accused them of abusing and physically assaulting him.
In 2022, a case was registered under FIR No. 110/22 under IPC sections, including 323, 324, 380, 406, 420, 504, 386, 398, 452, and 453/34. The case was initially tried in the Madhupur sub-divisional judicial magistrate’s court, which was later transferred to the MP-MLA court here in Dumka in 2022.Defence lawyer Mohammad Raja Khan represented the Ansaris in the case.
