Curtain will go up on the 37th State School Science Festival in Palakkad on Friday. The kitchen set up at Government Victoria College here to cater to 8,000 participants began humming into action on Thursday evening. P. Mammikutty, MLA, inaugurated the kitchen managed by Pazhayidam Yedu.
The Victoria College kitchen can serve 1,000 people at a time. A satellite kitchen will operate at BEM Higher Secondary School to cater to the work experience festival.
Buffet counters will be set up at the Kanikka Matha school, Bharatha Matha school, Big Bazaar school and the MES school, catering to participants and officials at each centre. The Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA) is handling the catering arrangements.
General Education Additional Director Santhosh C.A. launched the light and sound system on Thursday evening, marking the beginning of the four-day festival.
Municipal chairperson Prameela Sasidharan will inaugurate the registration of participants at Government Moyan’s Model Girls’ Higher Secondary School on Friday morning. Education Minister V. Sivankutty will inaugurate the festival at 4.30 p.m. Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh will preside over the function.
More than 8,000 students from across the State will converge for the festival, featuring competitions in science, social science, mathematics, IT, work experience, and vocational higher secondary expo.
