State teacher award for Syed Hashim

K.V. Syed Hashim, teacher at AUP School here, has won this year’s State teacher award. Mr. Hashim won the award for introducing diverse and innovative teaching practices.

He has been spearheading various activities aimed at fostering creativity and learning among students. The schemes Mr. Hashim introduced included arivulsavam (knowledge festival), arivarangu (knowledge platform), sargasangamam (convergence of creativity), Balavani radio station, Valappottukal (children’s magazine), short films, audio magazines and digital magazines.

Mr. Hashim had taken the initiative under the banner of the Vidyarangam to collect books and donate them to 13 schools in Malappuram district, which lost library books in the floods of 2018 and 2019.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, over 5,000 teachers were offered free online training in 13 skills, including video editing, poster making, and worksheet creation.

Mr. Hashim has won the Vidyarangam awards for the best sub-district and district convener. Hailing from Pazhamallur near here, he has been giving training to teachers for the past 20 years.
