The New York Knicks are quite in a fix after firing their head coach Tom Thibodeau. They are looking for a new head coach, and as per sources, Jay Wright is one of the potential choices for the position.

Besides, the New York Knicks has some legendary players from the Villanova Wildcats, the team that Wright used to coach before retiring in 2022, making it a potential reason for Wright to join the Knicks. Once the news spread, Josh Hart, former Wildcat player and current Knicks shooting guard, urged his former coach to remain retired and not join the Knicks.

Josh Hart supports Jay Wright’s decision to remain retired

The Knicks shooting guard Josh Hart recently replied to a tweet that stated that though Leon Rose (New York Knicks President) and Jay Wright are friends, the former knows that Wright is happily retired and not looking to rejoin the NBA.To this, Hart replied, “Man Thank You. Stay retired!” indicating that even he supports Wright’s decision of staying retired.

Before entering the New York Knicks, Hart played for the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Portland Trail Blazers. He played for the Villanova Wildcats during his college days and was one of the top performing player of the team. He was under Jay Wright during his time in the team and has nothing but praises for the coach.

Jay Wright had only coached one team in his entire career and that was the Villanova Wildcats. He was their head coach from 2001 to 2022, after which Wright took retirement from NBA permanently. During his time with the team, Wright led the team to two NCAA tournament championships in 2016 and 2018. It was due to Wright that Wildcats had appeared in Final Four of the tournament in 2009, 2016, 2018, and 2022. Due to his contributions, Wright was inducted in the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 2021. After his retirement, the Wildcats have been unable to enter the NCAA tournament. Wright is currently working as a TV analyst for TNT and CBS. Now that the Knicks are in a dire need of a head coach, having Wright back in the coaching field will be beneficial for them. Also Read: NBA Insider shares new details on surprising Tom Thibodeau’s exit from New York Knicks
