What happened during the time Stone Cold Steve Austin took a road trip after a WWE event?
During an interview with Inside the Ropes, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who is also Steve Austin's real-life best friend, revealed a story when the two took a road trip. WWE had back-to-back shows for both RAW and SmackDown, and had to drive 100 miles together.
On the way, they drank a lot of wine, broke every possible law, and had a reckless drive.Ross said, “We did Raw in Phoenix, Arizona, then the next night it was a SmackDown taping, so it’s about 100 miles. And we drank—even when we were just tasting this wine—we did. We broke every law imaginable. Driving 100 miles an hour, we had open containers, drank two bottles of wine in like an hour or something on the drive, and we got really s***faced.”
Furthermore, Ross also stated that he has not tasted wine since that incident with Steve Austin and added that he could no longer even stand the smell of it.“I haven’t drank wine since. I’m done. It’s like that one time getting drunk on Jack Daniels. I can’t. I can’t even smell it anymore—it makes me nauseous. Steve is unique. Steve’s not… he goes on these tangents about drinking,” added Jim Ross.
