Patna: A stone-pelting incident took place during the Mahaviri Jhanda Mela in Siwan’s G B Nagar police station area on Saturday night for the second time.The incident occurred while the Mahaviri Jhanda procession was passing through Fakhruddinpur village. Clashes broke out between two groups, resulting in stone pelting, causing injuries to several people and damage to police vehicles.Eyewitnesses said the police were unable to control the situation, resulting in damage of police vehicles.On Thursday, during the flag procession in Barharia police station area, another stone-pelting incident took place in front of the community health centre over a dispute of water at a betel shop. In this incident, Barharia SHO Rupesh Kumar Verma suffered a head injury.SP Manoj Kumar Tiwari said: “A dozen named and some unidentified people were made accused based on the video footage of Thursday’s incident. Raids are being conducted for their arrest.” He said miscreants were also being identified in connection with Saturday’s stone pelting incident.“After identification, an FIR will be filed and action will be taken. The BDO and CO of Barharia had to flee to the health centre to save their lives,” he said.
