Stoppages restored at Irugur, Singanallur for two express trains

COIMBATORE: Southern Railway has announced restoration of stoppages for two express trains at Irugur and Singanallur with effect from Monday (Aug 18) in response to requests from rail passengers.TOI had on July 21 published an article on how the cancellation of stoppages for the Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express and Palakkad Town-Tiruchirappalli Express trains at Singanallur after the Covid-19 pandemic had affected the passengers.Pointing out that Singanallur was a rapidly growing locality, the TOI report had also said how vital it was to restore the stoppages for ensuring last-mile connectivity and easing passenger load at other stations like Coimbatore Junction.In a press release, Southern Railway said Tiruchchirappalli-Palakkad Town Express (train no. 16843) would halt at Irugur at 5.05pm and depart at 5.06pm, while Palakkad Town-Tiruchchirappalli Express (train no. 16844) would stop at the station at 8.39am and leave at 8.40am.Nagercoil-Coimbatore Express (train no. 16321) would stop at Irugur at 6.14pm and depart at 6.15pm, while the Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express (train no.

16322) would halt at the station at 8.23am and leave at 8.24am.Nagercoil-Coimbatore Express (train no. 16321) would stop at Singanallur station at 6.19pm and depart at 6.20pm, while the Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express (train no. 16322) would halt at the station at 8.19am and leave at 8.20am. The Palakkad Tow-Tiruchchirappalli Express (train no. 16844), would stop at Singanallur at 8.34am and depart at 8.35am.Welcoming the announcement, M Ganesan, joint secretary of the Singanallur Train Passengers Welfare Association, said the move would benefit the people of Coimbatore East zone, especially employees and devotees.
