Later, the deer died.On being alerted by the locals, forest department officials reached the spot and recovered the carcass. After a postmortem, it was buried in the reserve forest area."This has been a regular incident in the Karumathampatti area, with around four deer being attacked by stray dogs every month. Hundreds of spotted deer are found on agricultural land in and around the Karumathampatti area. There is no proper action from the forest department to send the deer back to the forest, despite several complaints," said D Prabakaran, a resident of Karumathampatti.“The dogs, which have developed a habit of attacking and killing deer, are also killing goats on farmland. The district administration should look into this matter and take necessary action," he added.
