Students advised to join only government-recognised veterinary colleges

Andhra Pradesh State Veterinary Council chairman P.V. Lakshmaiah on Friday (November 14, 2025) advised students to only join government-recognised veterinary colleges, as joining institutions without proper approval would severely damage their future prospects.

Addressing a press meet, he clarified that no permissions would be given hereafter for any three-year veterinary degree courses and reiterated that the Council would not recognise any three-year veterinary degree courses started either in private, autonomous, or even government colleges within or outside the State.

He said that the council would also ask the Intermediate Board not to permit any private college to start two-year diploma programmes related to veterinary science and warned that candidates pursuing such diploma courses would not have any employment opportunities.

He requested the government to cancel the Para Veterinary Council Act passed by the previous government and G.O. Ms No. 14 issued to allow registration of three-year degrees under that Act. He said he would soon meet Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh to draw their attention to the issues.

Referring to the changes made in the working days of the council, he said that to facilitate veterinary doctors and officers who cannot visit during regular working days, the Council would work even on Saturdays and Sundays and informed that Thursdays would be the weekly holiday.

Claiming that the council was investigating the issue of individuals who reportedly purchased fake vocational Intermediate certificates during the previous government and secured jobs, he said a comprehensive report would be submitted to the government soon.
