NSF representatives briefed attendees on their appeals to the state govt for stronger ILP enforcement mechanisms. The federation reiterated its call for the establishment of a centralised database system to store ILP records issued to outsiders entering Nagaland.
It emphasised that such a system would enhance accessibility, ensure data consistency, and improve security.Highlighting the challenges posed by Nagaland’s porous borders with Assam, the NSF urged the govt to set up new checkpoints where necessary and reinforce existing ones. It recommended ILP issuing offices and checkpoints at Dimapur railway station and airport. The NSF also demanded the creation of an ILP enforcement wing and called for sensitisation of implementing departments and field personnel to ensure fair and effective enforcement of ILR provisions.
