The Kala Utsav–2025 began on a colourful note at the DIET campus, here on Thursday. The two-day event saw the participation of high school students from both Annamayya and YSR Kadapa districts. District Education Officer K. Subramanyam inaugurated the festival, calling it “a celebration of creativity and a platform for students to bring their hidden talents to the fore”.
The event drew students from as many as 47 schools, competing across six categories and 12 events, including vocal and instrumental music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and storytelling. Cultural programmes remained the highlight, and the participants kept the audience engaged with their art forms.
District nodal officer for Kala Utsav, Maditati Narasimhareddy, announced that the winners in each segment would be declared district champions and qualify for the State-level contests. Noted writer and Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar awardee Vempalli Gangadhar was the judge at the competitions.
