Sunny Deol meets Dalai Lama in Ladakh; calls it a moment of deep gratitude; shares post

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol experienced what he described as a moment of “deep honour and gratitude” during his recent journey through Ladakh. The Bollywood star met Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, an encounter that clearly left a lasting impression on him.

Sharing a serene photograph with the revered monk on Instagram, Sunny Deol wrote, “A moment of deep honour and gratitude. Met His Holiness, The Dalai Lama, during my journey through the serene landscapes of Ladakh. His presence, wisdom, and blessings filled my heart with peace. Truly unforgettable.”

From peaceful landscapes to war dramas

Even as Deol sought spiritual calm in the hills, his professional life has been quite the opposite intense and action-packed. The veteran actor has just wrapped up filming 'Border 2', the sequel to his iconic 1997 war drama 'Border'. The original, directed by J.P. Dutta, was a cinematic milestone. The film chronicled the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. It had a powerful impact and grossed over Rs 60 crore at the time of its release. Now, nearly three decades later, Sunny Deol returns in a film that promises to revisit that patriotic spirit. Directed by Anurag Singh, 'Border 2' also features a fresh ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond

'Border 2' is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026. While anticipation builds for that high-stakes drama, Sunny Deol is also gearing up for another emotionally layered project—'Lahore 1947'. The film reunites him with actress Preity Zinta and is helmed by filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. Meanwhile, Sunny Deol's recent outing was the action thriller 'Jaat' which turned out to be a superhit amid mixed reviews from the audiences.
