James Gunn’s 'Superman' (3D), starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, is maintaining a steady pace at the Indian box office even as it concludes its second Tuesday.According to the Sacnilk website, the film has collected Rs 44.55 crore in India net across all languages, with English leading the pack at Rs 31.91 crore.Reportedly, the Hindi dubbed version contributed Rs 9.22 crore, while the Telugu and Tamil versions added Rs 1.64 crore and Rs 1.78 crore respectively. The film's strongest Indian performance came during its opening weekend. The movie earned Rs 26 crore across the first three days. After a sharp drop on Monday, the collections began to stabilize.
Second week shows modest growth
While the weekdays of the second week have shown a visible slowdown, the film did get a mild weekend boost.
On its second Friday, 'Superman' (3D) netted Rs 1.45 crore, which nearly doubled on Saturday to Rs 2.8 crore, followed by Rs 3.2 crore on Sunday. However, the momentum faded quickly again with Monday bringing in just Rs 75 lakhs and Tuesday collecting Rs 85 lakhs.
Global box office soars to Rs 3600 cr
Where 'Superman' (3D) truly dominates is in its worldwide performance. The film has stormed past Rs 3600 crore globally. The movie minted Rs 1500 crore coming from overseas markets.
India’s gross collection currently stands at Rs 53.5 crore. These staggering figures position 'Superman' as one of the year’s highest-grossing superhero films globally.Directed by James Gunn the movie continues to benefit from massive international pull even as its Indian business stabilizes at a modest level. With a promising cast and immersive 3D visuals, the film has clearly found favor with global audiences. A toned down Superman has indeed impressed the family audiences, even though some prefer Henry Cavill's dark and intense version of Superman.
