Supplyco announces new promotional initiatives

Supplyco has decided to make the Onam special offer of 20 kg of rice at ₹25/kg a card per month a permanent scheme. It was also announced that women consumers will receive an additional 10% discount on non-subsidised products, over and over and above the existing discounts available at Supplyco outlets.

The slew of new initiatives and additional benefits for consumers were announced as part of Supplyco’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

At present, each ration cardholder is entitled to purchase one litre of edible oil at a subsidised rate of ₹319 per litre from SUPPLYCO outlets. This quota will now be doubled to two litres per card per month. Non-subsidised Sabari brand coconut oil will be sold at ₹359 per litre, and Kera coconut oil at ₹429 per litre, a press note issued by the office of the Minister for Civil Supplies said.

Customers purchasing non-subsidised goods worth ₹1,000 or more will receive one kg of sugar at ₹5. Those purchasing items worth over ₹500 will get 250 g of Sabari Gold Tea at a 25% discount, at ₹61.50 instead of ₹105.

Customers who pay via UPI for bills above ₹500 will receive an extra ₹5 discount, as part of Supplyco’s efforts to promote digital payments.

Sabari Appam Powder and Puttu Powder, usually priced at ₹88 per kg, has been made available at a 50% discount, at ₹44 per kg. This discount is being offered since November 1.

Supplyco has also introduced another incentive to reduce overcrowding in its outlets. It has announced that customers making purchases before 5 p.m. will receive an additional 5% discount on select branded FMCG items.

Mobile Supplyco markets, launched by Supplyco on November 1, will make available both subsidised goods and branded essential commodities in every constituency.

As in previous years, special Christmas fairs will be organised in six district centres, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Thrissur, the statement said.

Selected Supplyco supermarkets in taluks will also function as Christmas fair outlets. These fairs will be held from December 21 to January 1.

Supplyco is targetting sales worth ₹ 250 crore during the Christmas season. Over 250 products will be offered at special discounts and promotional rates. Christmas cakes and other festive special items will be made widely available across all Supplyco outlets.
