Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate has accused Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary of providing false age information in his election affidavit. Shrinate pointed to a Supreme Court ruling in 2003 that cited Choudhary's birth year as 1981, suggesting he should be 44 now, not 56 as declared.
Patna: Congress national spokesperson Supriya Shrinate on Saturday alleged that deputy CM Samrat Choudhary had provided false information regarding his age in his affidavit.Asking the Election Commission (EC) to take action against Choudhary, Supriya alleged that the deputy CM had changed his age for “convenience”.Providing detailed information, Supriya said Choudhary, in his election affidavit declared himself to be 56-year-old mentioning his birth year as 1968. “The Supreme Court, in a judgment on Oct 16, 2003, considering Choudhary’s birth year as 1981, cancelled his election from Parbatta assembly constituency in 2000.
Following this, he had to resign from his ministerial position. The Supreme Court gave the judgment based on the Bihar Secondary Education Board certificate.
This means, according to the Supreme Court order, he should be 44-year-old now. But it is strange that he has now become 56-year-old,” Shrinate told the reporters. She added, “It is also important to mention that in the 1995 Tarapur murder case, to get bail, Samrat Choudhary alias Rakesh Kumar claimed himself to be a 15-year-old minor, while mentioning his year of birth as 1981, which he has now conveniently changed to 1968.”
Supriya said in Bihar BJP, one could increase or decrease his age.She said if the same “crime” was committed by a common person, he would have lost his job, or if opposition members were involved, immediate action would have been taken. However, she said the people of Bihar will teach a lesson for such frauds.
