Promising all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has been named captain of Mumbai’s emerging team for a month-long development tour of England, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced on Monday.Set to begin on June 28, the tour is designed to provide Mumbai’s next generation of cricketers with valuable overseas exposure. The squad will play a series of high-intensity matches aimed at preparing them for the demands of senior-level cricket. Among the standout names are Musheer Khan, a dynamic batting all-rounder, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a stylish top-order batter, and Himanshu Singh, a rising left-arm spinner.

Several players in the squad already have Ranji Trophy experience, and the England stint is seen as a crucial step in their development. Over the course of the tour, Mumbai will play five two-day games and four one-day matches against a range of competitive sides including Nottinghamshire, Combined National Counties (Challengers), Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire.MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap emphasized the significance of the initiative:“The tour is aimed at accelerating player development — enhancing technical and tactical acumen, building mental toughness, promoting cultural exchange, and identifying future senior talent.”
The squad will have the opportunity to adapt to English conditions — often challenging due to swing-friendly weather and seaming pitches — which will test their technique and temperament.Former Mumbai cricketer Kiran Powar will serve as head coach for the tour, with MCA treasurer Arman Mallick taking on managerial duties. A six-member support staff will accompany the squad to ensure the players are supported both on and off the field.
