NEW DELHI: Police in Mathura district discovered pieces of meat scattered among shrubs in an empty plot behind a gym on Barsana Road, leading to the registration of an FIR against 74 individuals under the UP Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act on Sunday.The meat pieces were found in Govardhan area on Saturday night, with locals suspecting it to be cow meat."Locals alleged that it was cow meat, which has been sent to a forensic laboratory for examination," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar said.Police have identified potential leads through CCTV footage and are continuing their investigation.The FIR has been filed under Sections 3, 5, and 8 of the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, naming 24 specific individuals and 50 unidentified persons as suspects.
