Day after being suspended from the party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC and daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, K Kavitha, resigned from the party and the MLC post on Wednesday, news agency PTI reported.

“Brother Rama Rao did not back me when malicious campaign was unleashed against me… Detractors want our family to disintegrate, my suspension is a part of conspiracy to control the party,” Kavitha said at a press conference in Hyderabad, urging her father and party chief Chandrasekhar Rao to “observe what is happening around him,” PTI quoted.

Her suspension came after Kavitha issued statements against her cousin and former Telangana minister T Harish Rao and BRS Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar on Monday evening. A notice issued by BRS’s disciplinary committee, headed by Soma Bharat Kumar and T Ravinder Rao, stated that Kavitha’s conduct and anti-party activities in recent times caused damage to the party. “The party leadership has taken the issue seriously. Party president K Chandrashekar Rao has suspended Kavitha with immediate effect,” the notice read.

However, KCR or BRS working president KT Rama Rao did not sign the notice.

Addressing a media conference on Wednesday, Kavitha sharpened her attack against cousins Harish Rao, and Santosh, telling her brother Rama Rao that “they are not well-wishers,” as per the PTI report.

She also alleged the CBI probe was initiated against KCR due to “corruption” of her cousins, asking her brother to not believe them.
