Suspended IPS officer moves CAT challenging govt. order

Suspended Additional Commissioner of Police, Vikash Kumar Vikash has approached the Central Administrative Tribunal to challenge his suspension.

The petition on Sunday, citing the chief secretary as respondent, is to challenge the legality and action initiated by the State government, questioning whether due process was followed in issuing the suspension order.

Mr. Vikash is among five officials, including the Bengaluru Commissioner of Police, facing the suspension, while some other officials have been transferred .

Several senior police officials have voiced their concern questioning the suspension as a hasty decision which was made without due process and completion of the probe .

Meanwhile, the CID officials who have initiated a probe, are gearing up to take the accused of the stampede into custody on body warrant for questioning. The accused were arrested and presently lodged in central prison of Parappana Agrahara. A team of CID officials visited the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday for spot inspection.

The judicial probe initiated by the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban also summoned the victims injured in the stampede to appear before the commission to record their statement .
