Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday lauded India’s Operation Sindoor against terror infrastructure in Pakistan as a story of the valour of the country’s Armed Forces and of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also spoke about the importance of drones and aircraft technology in modern warfare.
While inaugurating a state-of-the-art test facility of Raphe mPhibr, an iDEX winner start-up, in Noida, Singh expressed pride that the Indian Armed Forces swiftly adopted equipment developed indigenously by young innovators and Indian industries, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
He said three products developed jointly by Raphe mPhibr and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) within just 14 months were successfully deployed during Operation Sindoor, a clear evidence that India is no longer behind any nation in terms of technological capability.
The Defence Minister asserted that India gave a befitting response to the terrorists and their handlers within 22 minutes and scripted not just a story of the valour of Indian Armed Forces, but also of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the innovation of the country’s scientists and youth.
India launched precise airstrikes at terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7 as part of Operation Sindoor, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, destroying nine terror strongholds and eliminating 100 terrorists.
Importance Of Drones
Rajnath Singh highlighted the growing role of drones, saying, “The reality of modern defence today rests on aircraft technology and drones." He said India is moving in this direction by designing, developing and manufacturing drones.
He said drones are now being deployed in areas where large equipment cannot reach, citing the example of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “In today’s era, it is essential to understand the importance of drones and to effectively incorporate them into war tactics," he added.
Singh also praised the iDEX scheme as a very significant initiative to promote innovation and self-reliance in the defence sector and acknowledged that Noida is playing a leading role in defence innovation, whether through startups, manufacturing enterprises, or high-tech solutions.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar were also present at the event.
