Tamannaah Bhatia, the prolific actress, has opened up about her experience of working with the prominent filmmaker who stumbles between love and wrath for the sake of nepotism, Karan Johar. The 35-year-old opined that the producer has never shied away from championing the significant outsiders of the industry, and lauded him for defying the stereotyping of women in his films.

“As a person, I think he’s extremely warm and welcoming, and he champions people who are from the industry and those who aren’t from the industry,” she said about Johar in an exclusive News18 interview, who worked together for their project ‘Do You Wanna Partner.’ Furthermore, the ‘Babli Bouncer’ actress expressed that the 53-year-old always had a balanced film, where he gave equally perfect opportunities to the female actresses.
Highlighting that Kajol’s character in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ was a tomboy, she said, “I’ve recognised that he’s also somebody who understands the importance of making films with very strong female character,” which made a significant impact on the masses. Moreover, Bhatia mentioned Alia Bhatt’s ‘Raazi’ as well, stating that Johar channeled women to a nuanced character with complex and interesting traits. When she was offered the series co-starring Diana Penty, she wasn’t perplexed. “ He has always championed women for who they really are, and this show is just another example,” she concluded.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Tamannah expressed that her favorite quality about the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ director is his ability to shine through self-deprecating humor. “My favourite quality of him is that he can laugh at himself. This is something not a lot of people from the industry have,” she said, before adding that she admires him when he speaks at any platform or stage for holding his own.
