TUTICORIN: Four people were killed and two others, including Thanjavur Principal District Judge K. Poorana Jeya Anand, sustained injuries after their car rammed into the rear of a lorry near Melakarandhai in Ettayapuram on Friday morning.The judge was returning from a pilgrimage to Tiruchendur temple along with his team — Personal Security Officer Naveen Kumar, Advocate Dhanajeyan Ramamoorthy, court staffers Sreedhar Kumar (37) and Udaya Sooriyan, and court record clerk Vasu Ramanathan, who was driving the vehicle.Around 9 am, as they were heading back from Tiruchendur, the car hit the rear end of a lorry ahead of them. The impact killed Sreedhar Kumar, Vasu Ramanathan, Naveen Kumar, and Advocate Dhanajeyan Ramamoorthy on the spot.Judge K. Poorana Jeya Anand and court staffer Udaya Sooriyan suffered injuries and were admitted to the Aruppukottai Govt Hospital in Virudhunagar for treatment.Masarpatti police retrieved the bodies and sent them for postmortem. A case was registered, and the lorry driver, Vijayaraj (27) of Bommarakudi in Cuddalore district, was detained.
