Tamil Nadu: BJP functionary hacked to death in Dindigul; attacked with billhooks, manhunt launched for bike-borne assailants

DINDIGUL: A former BJP functionary was hacked to death, allegedly by a gang, while he was speaking with his friends in Dindigul on Thursday.Police sources said Balakrishnan (39), a farmer by profession and a resident of Kallupatti village near Sanarpatti, was attacked near Madur Junction close to Rajakkapatti at around 6pm.The assailants, who arrived on motorbikes, attacked Balakrishnan with billhooks. He died on the spot.Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may have stemmed from a monetary dispute.Sanarpatti police have registered a case and are currently on the lookout for the individuals involved in the murder.
