CHENNAI: A training aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force crashed on an empty stretch of land in Upallam, abutting the Thandalam Bypass near Tiruporur, on Friday afternoon. Sources said the pilot ejected safely.The single-seater trainer aircraft went down around 2.50 pm. After the pilot parachuted to the ground, local villagers rushed to assist him and offered basic help. Within 30 minutes, an IAF helicopter landed on the road and airlifted him back to the base.In an official statement, the IAF said a Pilatus PC-7, which was on a routine training mission, crashed near Tambaram in Chennai on November 14, 2025. The pilot ejected safely, and a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash.
