MANGALURU: The Mangaluru City Police have arrested a man from Tamil Nadu for allegedly making a hoax bomb threat call to Mangaluru International Airport on August 29, warning that the terminal building would be destroyed if not evacuated.The accused has been identified as Sasikumar, 38, a resident of Vellore district in Tamil Nadu.City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said that on the night of August 29, an anonymous caller phoned Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), threatening that the terminal must be evacuated or it would be destroyed.Based on a complaint lodged by the Duty Terminal Manager of MIA, a case was registered at Bajpe Police Station under Sections 351(2), 351(3) of the BNS and Section 3(1)(d) of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982.The commissioner said the accused was traced and taken into custody in Vellore. During interrogation, Sasikumar confessed to searching for airport contact numbers on social media and making threatening calls, including one to MIA.He was produced before the jurisdictional court and is currently in judicial custody.
