TRICHY: TVK chief Vijay on Thursday accused DMK of joining hands with ‘other forces' to conspire against him, fearing that his film ‘Jananayagan' could turn into a political tool in favour of his party in the upcoming election.
He said there was no difference between DMK and BJP, as both were in a ‘backdoor and indirect alliance,' and were conspiring against him as well as the people of Tamil Nadu.Addressing a campaign meeting at Marakkadai junction near MGR statue in Trichy East constituency, the actor-turned politician broke his silence on the controversy surrounding the delay in the release of his latest movie."DMK, with a ‘kallapetti kootani' (an alliance acquired through money) and an indirect alliance with ‘mattrum palar kootani' (many others), is opposing Vijay.
From the Karur stampede to our last movie Jananayagan, there is a conspiracy. What if it made our relationship stronger? What if it became a powerful weapon in the election? There are many conspiracies. I, who want justice for you, also want justice for myself," he said.
Vijay is contesting from Trichy East as well as Perambur in Chennai. Barring a few mentions of BJP, Vijay mostly went after DMK and chief minister M K Stalin in his 20-minute address.
"Do you know how they are cheating you to loot money? By bringing a few Congress leaders into their fold, they have formed a ‘half Khadar coalition' to mislead minorities. On the other hand, with ‘mattrum palar kootani' and its Delhi-based leadership — a ‘half saffron alliance' — they are deceiving the people.
So, do not believe either DMK or BJP."On LPG shortage, he said both govts are responsible. "The state govt should have taken precaution to ensure that Tamil Nadu managed the crisis.
If there is a raid at his residence, Stalin flies to Delhi. Why not go to Delhi for LPG shortage crisis," he said. Accusing the DMK govt of failing to fulfil its poll promises, Vijay said TVK will ensure all promises are fulfilled, with priority for education, ration distribution, drinking water, roads, and transport facilities.Referring to the alleged cash-for-jobs scam, Vijay said, "There is a minister who, on the pretext of getting people jobs in the municipal administration, accepted crores in bribes and left eligible people without jobs.
Stalin govt should be thrown out. If there is more than Rs 1,000 crore worth of corruption just in the MAWS administration, think about the other departments," he said.Appealing to voters to offer him one chance, he said, "We pledge to deliver a govt that is 100% fair and just. You can place your absolute trust —100% —in me, Vijay." Urging people to vote for the whistle symbol across the state, he also sang a short song.Earlier in the day, before coming to the campaign, Vijay filed nominations at Trichy corporation's zone II office to contest from Trichy East segment. He paid tributes to late former chief minister MGR. Marrakadai junction is the same location where Vijay had his maiden political campaign in September last year. However, the crowd on Thursday was less compared to that rally.
