Rice ration card holders in Tamil Nadu can now collect their November quota early in October. A special announcement ensures smoother access during the upcoming monsoon season

Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Thiru R. Sakkarapani, has announced that rice ration card holders across all districts will be permitted to collect their November 2025 rice quota in October 2025, in anticipation of the North-East monsoon season.

To ensure uninterrupted access to essential food items during the forecasted heavy rainfall, the state government is facilitating early distribution of rice through all fair price shops in Tamil Nadu. Alongside rice and wheat, essential commodities such as sugar, kerosene, lentils (dal), and palm oil are also being distributed to priority and non-priority family cardholders under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Under this initiative, both those who have already collected their October quota of 12-35 kg of rice and those who have not yet received it may now collect their November 2025 rice quota during October itself from their designated fair price shops.

However, those who do not collect the November rice quota in October will still be eligible to receive it during November as per the regular schedule.

The Department of Food and Civil Supplies has encouraged all eligible rice ration card holders to make use of this advance provision, which is being introduced as a precautionary measure against possible monsoon disruptions.
