A video showing children in a classroom pressing the legs of their headmaster in Tamil Nadu’s Dharmapuri district has gone viral, drawing widespread attention and shock.

The incident is reported to have taken place at Maveripatti Primary School in Harur, where around 30 children from the village are enrolled. In the footage, the school’s headmaster, identified as Kalaivani, is seen lying on a table while reportedly instructing the children to press her legs inside the classroom.

Authorities took note of the video as it spread on social media and swiftly visited the school to enquire into the matter. Officials confirmed that an enquiry was being conducted and said further action would follow based on the findings.

Recently, the Kerala Education Department ordered a probe into an incident at a government school in Kasaragod, where a Class 10 student was allegedly assaulted by the school headmaster, resulting in a ruptured eardrum. The incident occurred on August 11 at Kundamkuzhi Government Higher Secondary School.

In another incident, Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty directed the Director of General Education to conduct an inquiry after a Class 5 student at Cochin Public School in Thrikkakara was reportedly locked alone in a dark room for arriving late.

The student, who was three minutes late, was first made to run two laps around the ground before being confined to a dark room. The student later said, “I reached school and was 2–3 minutes late. They made us run for two rounds. The principal told me either my parents should come and pick me or I had to sit alone in a room. Only teachers were there in that class.”
