Tamil Nadu secures 23 more deals in Germany worth more than ₹3,800 crore

As many as 23 memoranda of understanding (MoUs), worth ₹3,819 crore, were signed at the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave in Germany, held as part of the TN Rising Europe investment drive led by Chief Minister  M.K Stalin.

The government said the MoUs would help to generate 9,070 jobs in the State. Major commitments include Vensys Energy (₹1,068 crore; 5,238 jobs), BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (₹300 crore; 100 jobs), Bella Premier Happy Hygiene (₹300 crore; 200 jobs), Herrenknecht  India (₹250 crore; 400 jobs), Puls (₹200 crore; 500 jobs), Witzenmann  India (₹200 crore; 450 jobs), and MASH Energy (₹200 crore; 200 jobs).

With this, 26 MoUs, entailing an investment of ₹7,020 crore with the potential to create 15,320 jobs, were signed during the Chief Minister’s visit to Germany. Among them are three marquee deals inked earlier with Knorr-Bremse (₹2,000 crore), Nordex Group (₹1,000 crore), and ebm-papst (₹201 crore).

According to an official release, Bella Hygiene, a Poland-based multinational company behind the Bella brand of sanitary and medical products, will expand its modern hygiene products manufacturing facility in Dindigul district. Witzenmann Group, a German leader in flexible metal hoses and expansion joints for the auto industry, will expand production in Tamil Nadu for automotive and industrial applications.

BASF will expand its Chengalpattu facility. The company is into catalysts, adsorbents, battery materials and precious metal solutions. Vensys  Energy AG, a German wind turbine manufacturer specialising in gearless  direct drive technology, will establish a wind turbine components facility in Tamil Nadu.

Herrenknecht, the global market leader in tunnel-boring machines, will expand its Chennai facility. The company will support projects, such as the Mumbai Coastal Road and Chennai Metro Rail, through its locally manufactured machines and components. Guidance Tamil Nadu signed an MoU with Next Mittelstand (Ausbildung) to bring Germany’s dual vocational training model to Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Stalin also met Minister-President of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Hendrik Wüst, and invited companies in NRW to explore opportunities in Tamil Nadu. In a social media post, Mr. Stalin said he had met Mr. Wüst in Düsseldorf.

He said Mr. Wüst was a leader who had assumed high office at a young age, and he hoped to see him reach even greater heights in the years ahead. “Tamil Nadu, India’s industrial powerhouse, and North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany’s economic powerhouse, came together with the spirit of trust and optimism,” Mr. Stalin said. He highlighted Tamil Nadu’s remarkable growth under the Dravidian model government and invited Mr. Wüst to visit the State.
