TRICHY: A 22-year-old woman reported missing in Trichy on Thursday was found burned to death near a forest area on the city's outskirts.According to police sources, the victim, from Srinivasapuram, had recently completed her postgraduate studies in Trichy.

She left home on Thursday saying she was heading to an interview but did not return, prompting her family to alert the authorities.A woman missing case was registered at the Trichy govt hospital police station, and an investigation was launched. Officers tracked her mobile phone and found the last signal in the Sanamangalam forest area.As the investigation continued, police received information on Friday about a young woman's charred body discovered in Sanamangalam area near Samayapuram.Police began verifying whether the victim was the missing woman. After visual identification, they sent the body to Trichy govt hospital for postmortem. A forensic team visited the scene and collected evidence, including suspicious items.Since Sanamangalam is a forested area, police are probing how the student reached the location, her reason for being there, and whether she was abducted.Siruganur police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of her death, including the possibilities of sexual assault and murder.
