Tata Motors recently launched the

Tata Harrier Adventure X

mid-spec variant. Along with this launch, the company has also streamlined the Harrier’s lineup, trimming it down from 11 variants to just 6. Bookings for the Adventure X trims are now open both online and at authorised dealerships, with deliveries set to commence shortly.

The six new variants of the Harrier include - Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X Plus, Fearless X and Fearless X Plus priced between Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 24.44 lakh (ex-showroom). One of the closest competitors in this price range is the Hyundai Creta SX(O) diesel, a variant. Both SUVs target buyers who want a well-equipped diesel without stepping into the luxury segment. Here’s how the Tata Harrier Adventure X stacks up against the Creta SX(O) in terms of specifications, features, and pricing.

Tata Harrier Adventure X vs Hyundai Creta SX(O): EngineThe Tata Harrier is offered with a single diesel engine option - tried and tested Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, multijet turbo diesel pushing out 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 6-speed manual. It also gets three drive modes and terrain modes such as Eco, City, Sport - Normal, Wet and Rough.

Engine options compared

The Hyundai Creta gets three engine options - a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with 160hp of power and 260 Nm torque. A 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. A 1.5-litre turbo diesel with 116 PS of power, 250 Nm of torque. The Hyundai Creta SX(O) is priced at Rs 17.46 lakh for 1.5 NA petrol with MT and Rs 18.92 lakh for the Automatic. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol Automatic is priced at Rs 20.18 lakh. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel with MT is priced at Rs 19.04 lakh and Rs 20 lakh for AT (all prices are ex-showroom, respectively). Overall, the Creta SX(O) undercuts the Harrier Adventure X in petrol variants, but the diesel pricing is much closer, with the Harrier positioned slightly higher.
