The official Grammy nominations list is already here, and Tate McRae has just managed to score her first-ever nomination. The idol took to her social media to share the good news with her fans and talk about her most successful album to date.

The news was celebrated by many; however, many have been pointing out that she was snubbed from one of the main categories. Here’s what really happened.

According to the nominations for the 2026 Grammy music awards ceremony, Tate McRae is competing against big names for the title of the best dance pop recording for ‘Just Keep Watching’, from Brad Pitt’s film ‘F1.’ She is competing for the title against names like Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco for ‘Bluest Flame,’ Lady Gaga for ‘Abracadabra,’ Zara Larsson for ‘Midnight Sun,’ and PinkPantheress for ‘Illegal.’As soon as the announcements were made online, the singer also took to her social media account in order to share her excitement and gratitude for the nomination. She uploaded a photo of the announcements and added the caption “Grammy nominated!!!!!! Thank u!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @recordingacademy” as well. Her song ‘Just Keep Watching’ has already scored her VMA awards for song of the summer and best editing earlier this year in September.

Many debate whether the singer was ‘snubbed’ from the other categories

The nomination comes as a massive surprise for the artist’s fans, as many commented about how she should have competed for Best New Artist. This, however, could not have been possible due to one main reason: rules. As per the official rules, an artist can only be submitted for the category three times before they are barred from the nominations. Since Tate’s name had already been submitted three times for the category of best new artist before next year’s awards, she was not eligible for consideration. On the work front, McRae is on her way to complete her ‘So Close to What’ world tour. The last show will be held today, in Inglewood, California, whereas it first began on March 18 in Mexico City.
